Learn Teeline Shorthand Online
Teeline Online helps students worldwide to learn or refresh their shorthand skills. We offer an effective way to learn Teeline Shorthand by e-learning – the new way to learn without leaving your home or workplace, wherever you are in the world.
There are times when we all need to make notes, jot down instructions or take minutes at meetings quickly and efficiently in many different situations. Teeline Shorthand is the simplest form of shorthand to use and the quickest system to learn - whether you are using it as a journalist, secretary, minute clerk, manager at a business meeting, student taking lecture notes or for any other reason.
Our unique course has no end dates – no semesters or terms and no need to renew your registration. Once you have signed up you have unlimited access. You can stop and restart at any time and for no extra cost.
You can work at your own pace in your home or wherever you have access to a computer. The PDF lessons can be printed and the sound files downloaded to a computer/laptop/mp3/iPhone etc, so lessons can be continued on the move!
There are no unnecessary cd's, books or other materials - everything you need to learn Teeline Shorthand is provided in our lessons (except the paper and pen that is!!) - we are doing our bit to help save the planet.

What is Teeline Shorthand?

It is based on the alphabet – most vowels are omitted and you would be surprised how easy it is to read longhand without vowels – try it:

Teeline outlines are easy to learn as they are just shortened version of the longhand alphabet – no confusing squiggles to decipher. Here is an example of some of the Teeline alphabet

| Levels and features |
SilverThis is basically a 'work on your own' membership level
with very little support from us. You are able to access all
of the lessons whenever you wish and work on them at any
time. You will be able to access the answers to all of the
exercises except for the assignments. You will not be able
to send any of your work to us for marking. You can of
course, upgrade whenever you wish. The full features of this
level are explained in the table below. |
GoldThis level will suit you if you require more
support. At the end of each lesson is an assignment
comprising of three parts. You can send us these assignments
and we will assess them and return them to you - with
suggestions on how to improve any of your Teeline outlines,
or how to write them more quickly. We will offer you
suggestions on how you could group your outlines or position
them differently. If you are struggling with any particular
areas we will help you with these, as well as helping you
with any specific words within your own area of work that
you will use frequently. On completion of your tenth
assignment we will issue a certificate to confirm that you
have successfully completed the online course. There are no
time limits with our Gold level - you can take as long as
you like to complete it - we will leave you alone to get on
with it 'in your own time'! By joining at this level you will also receive unlimited free access to our dictations only website which has 250 dictations at speeds ranging from 30 wpm to 120 wpm.The full features of this level

PlatinumThis is a much more structured approach to ensure the
student completes the course within an agreed timescale. We
understand that sometimes it's hard for students to remain
motivated when they have lots to study and have extra,
optional subjects. This level offers the chance for students
to be contacted regularly so we can encourage them and help
with their progress. We will contact each student on a
regular basis (e.g. weekly, two weekly, monthly) to: Check
how the student is doing; request submission of their next
assignment; set targets of speeds that the student should be
achieving at each stage; remind students of special outlines
and phrases they should know; suggest high speed cuts for
the students' own vocabulary; record special dictations
including the students' own vocabulary. For corporate
customers we also allow you to transfer the course to any
other new employees as long as no assignments have been
completed. This is extremely beneficial if an employee
leaves without starting the course or sending any
assignments for marking.By joining at this level you will also receive unlimited free access to our dictations only website which has 250 dictations at speeds ranging from 30 wpm to 120 wpm. |

Before you sign up to any online Teeline course - be sure that the organisation can prove that they are accepted by the Teeline Partnership and have had their course and its methods of learning approved. Sites that do not have official recommendation or approval from the Teeline Partnership are unlikely to be deemed acceptable by the NCTJ or other such organisations. We are very happy to announce the launch of our dictations only site. This is for those of you who are looking to improve your speeds. You can purchase unlimited access to this site if you do not want to join our online Teeline shorthand lessons. Access to the dictations site will be free for all our Gold and Platinum members. There are currently 25 dictations at each speed from 30 to 120 words per minute in total 250 dictations. All 25 are repeated at each speed so that you can start where you most feel confident and build up to 120 words per minute. We will be adding unseen dictations shortly.
